Welcome To Don Ross Middle School!
The purpose of this website is to offer students and parents important information, resources, and assignments.
My name is Sophie Demers, and I am honoured to be teaching as a Grade 9 French Immersion teacher at Don Ross Middle School. I'm thrilled to be a part of this school, and look forward to our time together. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns as I want to make sure that there is always an open line of communication between myself, our class, and our community.

Cell Phone Policy
- Cell phones are not to be brought into the classroom. If a special circumstance arises where I will permit cell phones (ex. no laptops are available, and we are working on a research project), I will make a clear exception. Take a break from your devices, and connect with your peers and teacher!
Class Expectations
- We will spend a good chunk of time discussing this during the first few days of school. You will have a very clear understanding of what is expected in this class. This includes what is expected from your teacher and your peers. We are a community, and we all need to have clear expectations in order for us to build each other up.
Class Preparedness
- In order to thrive in this class, and in many other aspects of your life, being prepared is key. When you come into the class, please make sure that you come with a pencil/pen, and your binder. Make sure to keep your binder stocked with lined-paper. It's not necessary to bring colours, scissors and glue to class everyday, but it would be a bonus if you did! Please make sure those items are always in your lockers.
Absent?
- If you have an excused absence (meaning you were sick, had an appointment, went on vacation, etc), you are still expected to catch up on your missed work. I will keep this website updated, so you can even get a head start on the work. If extra help is needed, come in on Thursdays at lunch! I can also be available before or after school, as long as you arrange this with me beforehand.
